What is most valuable?
The tool's most valuable feature is threat protection and DLP features. So far, basic DLP features like content protection and blocking. Furthermore, for remote users, features such as back filtering and application control are available, allowing for command and control from our side. It is very easy to understand policy applications.
It has multi-console features, where you can designate administrators or super admins. There's also a read-only feature available. Visibility features are included in XDR. This provides information on user impact, potential threats on specific machines, source and destination IPs, setup firewall details, and unique identifiers for each machine. Another notable feature is network isolation, ensuring that data remains secure by isolating affected machines from others.
Sophos XG offers visibility into network information, sources, destinations, and threats. Depending on the policies applied, users may monitor specific issues without blocking them. However, policies that block threats should be applied.
What needs improvement?
One feature I would like to add is remote wipeout capability. This would be useful in cases where a user leaves the organization and fails to return their laptop. Remote wipeout would allow for the deletion of data from the device with a single command. Regarding technical support from Sophos XG, it's generally satisfactory. However, the response time could be improved. It takes around one hour to receive assistance, but reducing this to 30-45 minutes would benefit us.
The tool has only a base DLP feature. It needs to have a full DLP feature with additional licensing.

Sophos XG has a lab center where they analyze signatures and automatically update them on the product. This eliminates the need for manual updates on individual machines or centers. Additionally, it has features like MDR and management response features. So, Sophos XG seems to have a roadmap in place.
I would recommend the product based on the situation. Cortex, a next-generation antivirus for larger enterprises, would likely provide sufficient coverage. It's also known for its scalability and visibility features, including root cause analysis and terminology features.

The ease of integrating other products with Sophos is what makes it the most convenient cybersecurity solution. The professionals at Sophos provided us complete configuration, setup and implementation support. Queries take maximum 12 hours to get resolved. Intituitive ease of use is another thing we like about Sophos.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the configurations of our firewall were not according to our requirement, for which we had to reach out to the Sophos team and some rework went into it later on. But the team was helpful and we were able to configure and use it as per our specific requirements. The absence of alerts can be painful sometimes.

In a world driven by data, Sophos firewall helps us protect our devices and our user's data. Without data protection, we can't retain our customers. Since our team is dispersed globally, the use of VPN helps in a great way to work remotely and security concerns are minimalised.

In comparison to other firewalls, this one has a lot more functionality, and we can use access points and firewalls with centralised access. additionally, wifi coupons are helpful for visitors; no additional third-party software are necessary.

The main change I propose is to the Sophos Interface. I consider Fortigate to have a straightforward UI

we have been unable to access the official website. I filed one complaint using the Sophos website. They looked into it. resolved the problem in the end. That was DNS issue.
A powerful, reliable and secure Firewall with excellent integration with other products and services
What do you like best about the product?
The Sophos Firewall has very granular filtering capabilities and once we got to grips with it this allowed us to configure access for all of the wide and varied device and user types we have and taylor connectivity to their specific needs. As part of the purchase we had setup and implentation support from trained Sophos proffesionals which was invaluable.
The firewall has been far more reliable than our previous provider (we moved from Smoothwall) which is essential for a product that is in use constantly and it also integrates well with our Sophos Endpoint software.
We use the dashboard frequently as it provides a great overview of security with a threat quotient for our user base and the advanced security features highlight and block any malicious traffic such as access to botnets.
Updates are regular and the Firewall has continued to support the latest standards and protocols evailable for web access (such as TLS 1.3, Google QUIC and various VPN protocols).
As most web traffic is now encrypted the ability to decrypt and inspect as much traffic as possible was an essential feature that the Sophos Firewall range caters for too.
What do you dislike about the product?
Initially our needs were sized incorrectly and the model of Firewall didn't cope with our needs (this was rectified by Sophos) - which was a bit of a pain.
Also the builtin report functionality is not the easiest to configure/use and there are no instant alert features. As we work in a school we see instant alerts particularly as a safeguarding essential so had to purchase FastVue which integrates nicely with the Sophos Firewall logs and has improved reporting features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The Sophos Firewall provides a great level of security for our users and keeps our devices and data secure. It also provides VPN access allowing our users to continue working remotely (in a secure way). As we use Sophos Intecept X Advanced on our endpoints and integrate with Sophos Central the Firewall is also able to work in tandem with these platforms to improve end to end security.
