Wowza is a no-issue streaming engine.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It’s a very reliable platform for both live streaming and VoD, offering a lot of flexibility for encoding, transcoding, and distributing videos. It supports a wide range of protocols—like HLS, RTMP, and WebRTC—along with its cloud integrations.
What do you dislike about the product?
Wowza offers a lot of features, but this can make the setup process complex for new users who are not familiar with streaming technology. In our case - beginners felt that there is a steep learning curve.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Wowza provides a scalable architecture that can handle both high volumes of viewers and large amounts of content. It supports dynamic bandwidth allocation and adaptive bitrate streaming (ABR), ensuring that streams are delivered at optimal quality based on the viewer's internet connection and device capabilities.

LIve streaming events for over a decade

  • November 07, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Self hosted, easy to install, setup and maintain. We have ran Wowza for over a decade streaming hundrends of events multiple times per month, in many different and sometimes remote locations!
What do you dislike about the product?
Can be more difficult to harden, running Java at its core can mean its resource intensive
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Self hosted live streaming for both internet and external use.

What do you dislike about the product?
Its lack of better analytics and somewhat not clear logs.

What do you like best about the product?
Wowza is great for streaming and offers many services for transmission of audio and video. The quality looks great and it was very easy for my client to embed on their website. Great back end with data.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's no backup RTMP or failover if your primary stream goes down.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easily embeddable streaming solution that can be white labeled.

Wowza is a simple, inexpensive way to stream to multiple online platforms with minimal effort.

What do you like best about the product?
Wowza has a fairly simple setup for the stream and stream targets. The transcoding options are fairly priced and give us multiple stream resolution options from our incomeoing 1080p stream. We stream to Wowza and Wowza outputs to our Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo, Rumble, Church Online Platform (2 transcoded resolutions) and and an audio only Phone streaming platform.

We use Wowza 3 times a week presently but in the past we were streaming up to 6 times a week. Wowza's feature set is great for the lower monthly fee options they offer. Once you setup your multiple streaming targets, you can decide if it's full (passthrough) resolution or transcoded down to lower resolutions. They offer video storage, VOD and OTT features we aren't utilizing presently, but they're there if you need them. The few times we've had questions our support emails have been replied to in a timely manner.
Wowza is a straight forward, solid, reliable system for simple to complex streaming needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Wowza just updated their user interface and as they simplified some of the steps for setup, it seems they may have removed some of the target editing options they used to have. I need to investigate further... But I know they listen to user feedback and if there's something that is needed they'll find a way to make it happen.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Wowza allows us to stream 1 x 1080p stream from our site to their cloud.wowza streaming. They seemlessly provide the stream output to multiple platforms, with multiple transcoded resolutions as needed.

The System Integrators dream!

  • August 21, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It was quite simple to setup, the documentation was thorough when necessary. The Customer support portal was easy to use, and had a very quick response time. Very easy to integrate multiple camera vendors in a building.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to see more out of the box support for other camera vendors, or a guide / trip and tricks on how to get RTSP URLs for other non-supported vendors.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allowed us to get real time interfacing in with our buildings alarm system. The operator receives and alarm on the building management platform and the corresponding CCTV feed is opened on a trigger. This allowed for non-traditional security related alarms to also trigger a CCTV feed.

What do you like best about the product?
Works well with internet codecs, I like the multiplatformity, quite stable for long run.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lacking legacy codecs (MPEG1 audio, MPEG2, H.264 CBR). Config thru XML is somehow complex. Java has some limitation on Windows servers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
provides access to my media files thru "streaming" (mostly thru HLS)

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Compatibility with industry standards for streaming videos and easy of use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Poor support for RTSP, some protocols features are not implemented, such as Authentication. Lack of support for onvif.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have the need to stream multiple live feeds from drones around the world to a plataform that saves this videos, and reestreams it to my clients video center if needed. Wowza Streaming Engine helps me as a central server were I can send the video, as converts the video stream to a cloud based storage for VOD.

What do you dislike about the product?

Get the stream from h265 camera video encode and transfer it to h264 to use in webrtc
