    Overview

Node.js 22 LTS on CentOS Stream 9 provides a fully configured, production-ready environment for building and running Node.js applications on AWS.

This AMI is built on a minimal installation of CentOS Stream 9, updated to the latest security patches, and includes Node.js 22 LTS runtime pre-installed and configured. Node.js 22 LTS features the latest V8 engine with improved performance, enhanced WebSocket support, and new JavaScript features. It is designed for developers and teams who want to leverage the latest Node.js LTS capabilities without spending time on environment setup.

    Key components included:

    • Node.js 22 LTS runtime (latest V8 engine)
    • npm package manager
    • Core build tools (gcc, make, python3)
    • Git version control
    • dnf package manager with automatic updates

The system is security hardened following best practices. SELinux is enabled in enforcing mode. SSH access uses key pair authentication only. Unnecessary services and packages have been removed to reduce the attack surface. Automatic security updates are enabled by default via dnf-automatic.

This AMI is suitable for web application backends, REST APIs, microservices, real-time applications, WebSocket servers, serverless function development, CLI tools, and general Node.js development workflows.
