Secure file transfers and compliance have improved while the admin interface still needs clarity
What is our primary use case?
I use GoAnywhere MFT for two to three primary use cases. The first involves transferring files to vendors and customers. I have two to three vendors who process all documentation on behalf of our company, and I use this application to transfer our files to them in a more secure way.
The second use case involves audits that occur half-yearly and quarterly, where compliance is very important. I opted for GoAnywhere MFT so that there would be encryption within the sharing and logs would be generated. These two aspects are major factors for our organization. We are at a very early stage, and last month I used the MFT to show an auditor our logs during an audit. From a compliance perspective, our company takes this very seriously, and I am using two to three features within GoAnywhere MFT in this manner.
What is most valuable?
GoAnywhere MFT is very scalable. I have integrated it with Amazon S3 and am working to integrate it with REST APIs as well. Database integration was also very easy. I have an on-site, on-premises SFTP setup, and that integration works very well. Scalability is very good, and I am able to accomplish what we need.
GoAnywhere MFT is secure, though the external part does not maintain the compliance posture to the same degree. However, I am doing it in a secure way, and it is getting the job done. I am doing the automation part, and the automations run on different APIs, such as the REST API, WebLogic, or some running on the AWS cloud with the help of Lambda.
The initial deployment for GoAnywhere MFT was very easy. A third-party person came and gave us the proof of concept. I understood all the workflows, and then I got it integrated. It took about 15 to 20 days to integrate and get it implemented, so integration was very easy.
The maintenance part is looked after by the server team. I am managing it, so maintenance does not fall under my responsibility. In the last three and a half months, I have never noticed any maintenance required other than log rotation. I have a procedure where I rotate the logs every 15 days because too many logs are being generated. The log rotation is very easy, and there is no issue with that.
What needs improvement?
Right now I am not in a position to tell you the improvements for GoAnywhere MFT because it has only been three or four months since I opted for it, and I am still understanding how the process works. If you need an improvement recommendation, I can provide one after six months.
One improvement I can tell you about is something I observed during the SAS integration project. The admin screen or system administrator homepage is very cluttered. While integrating with SAS, the homepage could be more user-friendly and more informative. It is not informative enough. What I have to do on the admin page is copy and paste information to ChatGPT or elsewhere to understand what it exactly means. This is something I noticed during the integration part.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using GoAnywhere MFT for three or four months since I opted for it.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I have not experienced any lag issues.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
GoAnywhere MFT is very scalable. I have integrated it with Amazon S3 and am working to integrate it with REST APIs as well. Database integration was also very easy. I have an on-site, on-premises SFTP setup, and that integration works very well. Scalability is very good, and I am able to accomplish what I need.
How are customer service and support?
I have not had any partnership with customer service, and I received only a name, not a company name.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I did not use a previous solution because due to compliance becoming very strict in recent years, there was no such software available. I was using my own file transfer protocol, which I was sharing to users as well over OneDrive.
How was the initial setup?
The initial deployment for GoAnywhere MFT was very easy. A third-party person came and gave us the proof of concept. I understood all the workflows, and then I got it integrated. It took about 15 to 20 days to integrate and get it implemented, so integration was very easy.
What about the implementation team?
A third-party person came and gave us the proof of concept. I understood all the workflows, and then I got it integrated.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I think the pricing for GoAnywhere MFT is expensive. Although I am not from the government sector, I have discussed pricing during the proof of concept phase, and the licensing is a bit expensive. For the advanced features I plan to opt for in the near future, such as secure forms or advanced workflows where I can multiply and channel workflows that will get automated with the help of scheduling batch jobs, those features are a bit costly. I will have to opt for advanced licensing.
What other advice do I have?
I have not used any of the connectors because I have all private vendors, so connectors are not required. I am integrating secure forms now, and it is good. The secure forms mechanism is very good, and I liked it. I am currently under the integration phase. I am planning to integrate additional features, but right now I cannot commit to anything. I believe GoAnywhere MFT will serve as a single solution for every problem that I am pursuing. My review rating for GoAnywhere MFT is 7.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Before choosing GoAnywhere MFT, I was using a mix of custom FTP scripts and older legacy transfer tools, but maintaining them was messy and difficult to scale as compliance requirements grew.
How was the initial setup?
The advice I would give to others looking into using GoAnywhere MFT is to spend time planning your workflows and security policies upfront, as once it is set up properly, the automation and reliability truly pay off in the long run.
What was our ROI?
I have seen a return on investment with GoAnywhere MFT, mainly through time savings and reduced operational overhead, as we spend far less time troubleshooting failed transfers, and one administrator can now manage workflows that previously required multiple manual touchpoints.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
I evaluated other options before choosing GoAnywhere MFT, including IBM Sterling and Axway MFT, and GoAnywhere felt easier to manage for our team size and use case.
What other advice do I have?
GoAnywhere MFT is a great platform for organizations that prioritize reliability, auditability, and secure automation over a modern user interface, and it delivers the job reliably. I would rate this review a 7 out of 10.
