Overview
Production-Grade HPC on AWS — Deployed in Hours, Not Months
Building a high-performance computing environment on AWS from first principles is a significant undertaking. Designing scheduler architectures, hardening compute nodes, configuring storage for HPC workloads, establishing scaling policies, and integrating with existing identity and security controls can consume months of specialist engineering effort — before a single production workload runs.
UltraCompute eliminates that overhead entirely. The Server Labs deploys UltraCompute — a licensed, productised HPC SaaS platform — directly into your AWS account. UltraCompute encapsulates years of proven HPC engineering into a deployable product: pre-configured scheduler patterns, compute pool architectures, storage integrations, and operational controls that install automatically and operate as a native HPC service under your governance and security model.
This is not a custom-built platform. It is a mature, continuously improved HPC product — deployed into your environment, operating inside your security perimeter, and immediately available for production workloads.
What UltraCompute Delivers
UltraCompute is deployed as a licensed SaaS platform that runs entirely within the customer's AWS account. There is no external compute, no data movement outside your environment, and no dependency on third-party infrastructure. Security, identity, encryption, and data residency are enforced using your existing AWS controls — IAM, VPC, KMS, and your established network perimeter.
The platform supports three primary use cases: A new shared HPC service — providing research, engineering, or data science teams with immediate access to governed, elastic HPC capacity on AWS. A drop-in replacement for legacy HPC — replacing ageing on-premises or legacy cloud clusters with a modern, scalable, operationally sustainable platform without rebuilding from scratch. A burst and overflow platform — extending existing HPC capacity elastically on demand, supporting variable workload volumes without permanent infrastructure commitment. UltraCompute is managed through a product control plane that enables continuous platform improvements, upgrades, and feature evolution without customer intervention and without exposing customer data. All workload execution, data access, and runtime operations remain fully contained within the customer's AWS account at all times.
Key Deliverables
- Licensed UltraCompute HPC platform deployed in the customer's AWS account
- Automated installation and configuration of core HPC services
- Configured schedulers, compute pools, and auto-scaling policies
- Integrated storage and data access paths optimised for HPC workloads
- Secure access aligned to existing IAM, VPC, and network controls
- Initial workload onboarding and operational validation
- Operational handover documentation for platform and infrastructure teams
Who This Service Is For
This engagement is designed for organisations that require HPC capability delivered quickly, predictably, and safely — without the overhead of building and operating a bespoke platform. It is particularly relevant where HPC services must be available rapidly to support active research or engineering programmes, where legacy HPC infrastructure is expensive, fragile, or operationally unsustainable, where workload demand is variable and requires elastic scaling, or where regulatory and security requirements prohibit the use of external compute platforms. Typical clients include research institutions, life sciences organisations, financial services firms, engineering enterprises, and public sector bodies operating mission-critical or sensitive computational workloads.
Delivery Approach
UltraCompute is deployed using a scripted, repeatable installation process into the customer's AWS account. Core platform components, schedulers, compute pools, and storage integrations are installed and configured automatically, aligned to the agreed service design. Initial workloads are onboarded to validate platform behaviour, performance, and access controls, after which the service is ready for immediate production use.
Highlights
- Rapid HPC deployment on AWS – Deliver a fully operational HPC platform in hours using UltraCompute SaaS, eliminating months of infrastructure engineering and configuration effort.
- Secure in-account execution model – UltraCompute runs entirely within the customer’s AWS environment, ensuring full data sovereignty, compliance, and integration with existing IAM, VPC, and security controls.
- Enterprise-grade HPC scalability – Supports new HPC services, legacy cluster replacement, and burst capacity expansion with automated scheduling, compute pooling, and performance-optimised storage integration
