DataWorkbench: Program Management for Data and AI Operating Models
Most data leaders inherit a stack, a mandate, and no way to show progress. DataWorkbench gives them the structure to run the program - not a document library, but a living operating model that connects strategy to execution.
Trusted by data leaders at organizations including Kraft Heinz, Anheuser-Busch, William Lea, and Citizens Equity First Credit Union.
Use Case Portfolio
DataWorkbench centers on a Use Case Portfolio that captures candidate data and AI initiatives, scores them against business value and readiness, and moves them through a defined lifecycle from intake to production. Every use case carries a named owner and assigned stewards, so accountability sits with people rather than a committee.
- Intake, scoring, and lifecycle tracking in one place
- Named ownership and steward assignment per use case
- Business value and readiness scoring for prioritization
- Defined stages from candidate through production
Program Cadence and Executive Reporting
The platform runs the cadence around that portfolio. It tracks progress against milestones, surfaces stalled work, and generates executive reporting that connects data and AI activity to business outcomes. Leaders can show sponsors what moved, what is blocked, and why it matters - without assembling slides from five different tools.
Governance in the Flow of Work
Data governance is handled in the flow of work rather than as a separate program. Policies, definitions, and quality expectations attach to the use cases they serve. This is what makes governance stick - it lives where the work happens, not in a binder nobody opens.
Embedded AI Agents
Two AI agents support the work directly:
- AI Steward - Handles governance execution including documentation, metadata capture, and steward follow-through
- Fractional CDO - Supports strategic decisions including prioritization tradeoffs, sponsor communication, and program sequencing
Integrations
DataWorkbench connects to the tools your team already uses:
- Jira - Sync initiative tracking and delivery milestones between your engineering teams and the Use Case Portfolio
- dbt - Integrate data transformation workflows so governance and lineage stay connected to production pipelines
- Public REST API - Connect DataWorkbench to any additional platform in your stack including BI tools, catalogs, or collaboration apps
Security and Data Protection
DataWorkbench is built on AWS infrastructure with security designed for organizations managing sensitive strategy and governance data:
- Data encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2
- Data at rest encrypted in Amazon RDS
- Role-based access controls for portfolio, governance, and reporting functions
- Customer data isolated within the platform architecture
Peer Group Access
Customers join a peer group of data leaders running comparable programs. The operating model, benchmarks, and hard-won patterns are shared directly between practitioners - not through a vendor webinar, but in working conversations with peers facing the same challenges.
Who DataWorkbench Is Built For
DataWorkbench serves VPs of Data, Heads of Data, and CDOs at mid-market companies - particularly leaders in their first 24 months who are standing up a data function under an audit finding, an AI mandate, a post-merger integration, or a new executive sponsor.
Pricing Model
DataWorkbench is offered as a flat platform fee with unlimited users. There is no per-seat pricing, so your entire data team, stewards, and executive sponsors can access the platform without incremental cost.
Getting Started
After subscribing through AWS Marketplace, customers receive a guided configuration session to set up the operating model for their organization. The onboarding process includes:
- Use Case Portfolio setup with your existing initiatives
- Steward and owner onboarding
- Executive reporting configuration tailored to your sponsor audience
- Integration setup for Jira, dbt, or custom API connections
The platform is accessible via web browser with no infrastructure to deploy. Because DataWorkbench requires configuration to match your operating model, the seller team works directly with you after purchase to ensure the platform reflects your organization from day one.
About XenoDATA
XenoDATA is a member of the AWS Partner Network. The platform is purpose-built for the program management challenges that data leaders face when standing up or scaling a data function. Customer case studies are available on the XenoDATA website for buyers who want to see how peers in similar roles have used the platform to drive measurable progress.
What DataWorkbench Is Not
DataWorkbench is not a data catalog, a pipeline orchestrator, or a BI tool.
Highlights
- Run a data and AI operating model, not a document. The Use Case Portfolio captures candidate initiatives, scores them against business value and readiness, and moves them through a defined lifecycle from intake to production. Every use case carries a named owner and assigned stewards, so accountability sits with people rather than a committee.
- Program management and executive reporting in one place. Track progress against milestones, surface stalled work, and connect data and AI activity to business outcomes. Data governance runs in the flow of the work: policies, definitions, and quality expectations attach to the use cases they serve rather than sitting in a separate program nobody reads.
- Embedded AI agents plus a peer group of data leaders. The AI Steward handles governance execution such as documentation, metadata capture, and steward follow-through. The Fractional CDO agent supports prioritization tradeoffs, sponsor communication, and program sequencing. Customers also join a peer group of data leaders running comparable programs.
