Overview
Amazon RDS Custom for Oracle reaches end of standard support on March 31, 2027. Customers running production Oracle workloads on RDS Custom must transition to a different platform. The default fallback to self-managed Oracle on EC2 reintroduces the very operational burden that drove customers to a managed service in the first place.
Intuitive's productized 4-week pilot — co-delivered with Tessell — gives you a low-risk, fixed-fee path to validate Tessell Oracle PaaS on AWS as the destination for your RDS Custom estate, on a representative production workload, with a measurable cutover and a wave-grouped roadmap for the rest of your databases.
WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE 4-WEEK PILOT:
Week 1 — Discovery & Assessment. AWR-driven workload analysis, dependency mapping, right-sized Bill of Materials for the Tessell target environment, and signed-off scope.
Week 2 — Tessell Landing Zone Build. Tessell Oracle PaaS deployed in your AWS account, integrated with your VPC, IAM, KMS, and monitoring stack. HA, DR, snapshot, and backup policies configured.
Week 3 — Pilot Database Migration. One representative Oracle database migrated from RDS Custom to Tessell using continuous replication. Test cutover with full rollback rehearsal, followed by the production cutover in your maintenance window. Target downtime under 10 minutes.
Week 4 — Steady-State & Roadmap. Day-2 operations validated end-to-end: provisioning, cloning, point-in-time recovery, RMAN backups, HA failover, and patching. Knowledge transfer to your team. Wave-grouped migration roadmap and commercial proposal for the remaining estate.

WHO THIS IS FOR:
This pilot is built for customers running production Oracle workloads on Amazon RDS Custom for Oracle who need a transition path that preserves AWS spend, application architecture, and operational maturity. Best fit: enterprises with one or more Oracle databases on 12c/18c/19c/21c Enterprise Edition, sized up to 2 TB per pilot instance, hosted in AWS regions where Tessell is generally available. Larger workloads, RAC, and Exadata-specific footprints are supported under separate engagements.
PROCUREMENT FLEXIBILITY:
This engagement can be procured directly via AWS Marketplace as a Private Offer, drawn down against existing AWS EDP commitments where applicable. Intuitive will work with your AWS account team to identify available funding programs (MAP, PSF) that may offset the engagement fee.

Escalation path: If a Severity 1 issue is not acknowledged within the SLA window, escalate directly to the Director of Database Engineering & Modernization at the email address provided in your kickoff packet.
Languages supported: English. Service is delivered remotely from Intuitive's global delivery centers across North America, EMEA, and APAC, with overlap coverage during business hours in your primary region.
