    Overview

Deploy a Kiteworks Private Data Network (PDN) to control, monitor, and protect all data exchanged between people, machines, and systems across user collaboration, automated workflows, and enterprise AI-all from one platform. Organizations handling sensitive data-health records, contracts, engineering designs, financial data, and confidential communications-face challenges in sharing, storing, and collaborating without exposing themselves to risk or audit gaps. Siloed tools and ad hoc processes create misconfigurations, shadow IT, and fragmented compliance. Kiteworks provides a single, unified Private Data Network (PDN) that governs how data moves, who can access it, and what they can do-across email, file sharing, web forms, SFTP, APIs, and MFT automated workflows-delivering strong protection that scales with cloud-driven operations.

Unified Enforcement Ensures Privacy and Compliance At the heart of Kiteworks is a Private Data Network that unifies governance, security, and collaboration. A centralized policy engine enforces attribute-based access controls (ABAC using attributes of data, user, and action) and RBAC (role-based access controls), ensuring the right people access the right data under the right conditions. This single control plane eliminates policy drift across channels and accelerates audits. With a flexible footprint in cloud environments, organizations gain a consistent security posture and rapid onboarding of partners and vendors while maintaining strict data boundaries.

Secure Data Exchange Capabilities -Email Protection: Secures sensitive data communications with encryption, monitoring, and audit logging to prevent data leakage and preserve confidentiality. -Secure File Sharing: Granular permissions, secure links, and immutable audit trails across internal and external sharing, reducing risky ad hoc methods and enhancing governance. -Governed SFTP: Self-service, auditable folder structures, permissions, and file transfers with policy-driven controls that ensure integrity and provenance for regulated data exchanges. -Managed File Transfer (MFT): The most modern and secure platform for reliable, compliant automation for exchange of large or regulated files with end-to-end controls and comprehensive audit trails for partner workflows. -AI Data Protection: Policy enforcement to ensure only approved data is loaded into LLM applications. -Secure Forms: External and internal users upload data with the most secure and compliant forms on the market. -Comprehensive Visibility & Governance: Real-time dashboards, comprehensive log, automated reporting, and a real-time SIEM feed that simplify risk management, incident response, and audit preparation.

Broad and Rigorous Regulatory Compliance Kiteworks helps support CMMC, HIPAA, GDPR, ITAR, NIS 2, PCI-DSS, and dozens of other standards through centralized governance, immutable audit trails, extensive controls, and ready-to-use compliance reporting. It is certified for regulations around the world, such as ISO 27001, -17, -18, FedRAMP, NIS 2, Cyber Essentials Plus, and SOC 2.

Security-First Architecture & Data Protection The Kiteworks hardened virtual appliance provides an isolated, purpose-built runtime for private data exchange, reducing the attack surface and providing zero-trust internal interfaces and an assume-breach architecture. Its integrated security stack-with embedded firewall, WAF, IPS, and strict least-privilege access-helps organizations meet stringent regulatory requirements while maintaining performant, scalable data workflows across cloud and on-premises environments. Data is protected with AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.3 in transit. Access controls rely on ABAC and RBAC for granular permissions, complemented by multifactor authentication options, and a wide set of internal controls.

Real-World Outcomes By consolidating security controls, Kiteworks reduces breach risk, shortens audit cycles, and eliminates shadow IT with governed data exchanges. Organizations benefit from streamlined compliance reporting, faster partner collaboration, and a credible security posture that supports cloud initiatives without sacrificing control or velocity. Experience the confidence of unified data governance on AWS. Deploy Kiteworks to secure data movement, simplify compliance, and accelerate secure collaboration with partners and customers-starting today.

    Reviewed on Mar 13, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
Kiteworks provides a secure way to share files and send emails with sensitive information. I used it to upload files and compose secure emails when sharing documents with internal teams and external stakeholders. The security features like encryption and access control help ensure that confidential data is protected.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface can take some time to get used to, especially for new users. Sometimes navigating between features like file sharing and secure email can feel a bit complex. Also, transferring very large files may take longer depending on the network speed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Kiteworks helps securely transfer files and send protected emails without worrying about data leaks. In a corporate environment like Infosys, it ensures that sensitive documents are shared safely with the right people. This improves security, compliance, and makes collaboration easier across teams.

Robust Security and Compliance with Kiteworks

    Reviewed on Feb 05, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I like Kiteworks for its strong security and compliance controls, which gives me confidence when handling sensitive data. The built-in encryption, access controls, and policy enforcement mean secure behavior is the standard without having to remember additional steps. This significantly reduces accidental data exposure and makes compliance manageable. I appreciate the unified platform that consolidates secure email, managed file transfers, external collaboration, and audit reporting, simplifying workflows and reducing costs. The comprehensive audit trails and visibility help quickly answer questions like who accessed a file and when a download was shared. I also value Kiteworks' tight integration with identity providers, allowing user access and permissions to be managed centrally and making Kiteworks feel like a natural extension of our IT environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
The initial setup and configuration of Kiteworks can be complex, especially for organizations without dedicated IT or security resources. The onboarding process, particularly configuring policies, identity integration (SSO/LDAP), and encryption settings, can feel overwhelming. There are many powerful options, which can mean a steeper learning curve up front. The security and policy configuration has many moving parts and requires careful configuration to avoid impacting compliance or usability.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Kiteworks to replace insecure attachments with encrypted, tracked exchanges, ensuring compliant file transfers. It integrates well with identity management, aligning access with roles and easing user deprovisioning. Previously, we struggled with governance and visibility, which Kiteworks resolved with comprehensive audit trails.

Secure File Sharing with Compliance, Needs Mobile App Improvement

    Reviewed on Feb 04, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I like that Kiteworks offers frictionless secure external sharing without the need for mandatory account creation for U.S. stakeholders, which eliminates the number one barrier to secure collaboration. I also appreciate the immutable, compliance-ready audit trails that are particularly useful for U.S. regulatory audits.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find the mobile app non-intuitive for on-the-go U.S. field teams. It has slow load times for large files like FINRA-regulated financial reports, lacks offline access for marked files, and the share link generator is hidden in nested menus. The initial setup was a mixed experience for our U.S.-based mid-market enterprise with specific regulatory obligations and a lean IT team.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Kiteworks for secure external content exchange, eliminating data leakage risk in file sharing with U.S. stakeholders. It provides frictionless secure sharing without mandatory accounts and offers compliance-ready audit trails.

Secure, Trackable File Sharing with Room for UX Improvement

    Reviewed on Feb 02, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I mainly use Kiteworks for securely sharing sensitive files and important documents with clients and colleagues. The audit log is one of my favorite features because I can see exactly who opened a file and when. This transparency makes file sharing much more trustworthy. I really like how easily I can control who can view, download, or forward the files. Setting permissions feels very straightforward and reliable. I also appreciate that they make file sharing safer and more transparent as I can manage access easily and track every action taken on my documents. Additionally, the integration with Microsoft Outlook for sending secure links and notifications is handy, and after the basic configuration, my team got comfortable quickly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some parts of Kiteworks feel a little complex for new users. The interface could be smoother and more modern. Large file uploads can be slow sometimes. Mobile usability could be better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Kiteworks to securely share sensitive files, preventing unauthorized access. It helps me track every file action, making sharing transparent and trustworthy. Managing access is straightforward, ensuring the right people see or edit documents.
