    Overview

    Open image

Zabbix Server is the core element of Zabbix software. It performs the polling and trapping of data, calculates triggers, and sends notifications to users. It is the nerve center to which Zabbix agents and proxies report on the availability and integrity of systems, and it can remotely check networked services (such as web servers and mail servers) using simple service checks.

The server is the central hub and source of truth in which all configuration, statistical, and operational data is stored. It will actively alert administrators when problems arise in any monitored system.

All of the configuration information for Zabbix is stored in the database, which both the server and the web frontend interact with. For example, when a user creates a new item using the web frontend (or API) it is added to the items table in the database. Every 10 seconds, the Zabbix server queries the items table for a list of active items, which is then stored in a cache within the Zabbix server.

For distributed and large-scale monitoring environments, Zabbix Proxy  can be used to offload monitoring tasks from the Zabbix server.

    Highlights

    • Zabbix track performance and availability across servers, networks, applications, databases, and cloud environments in real time
    • Zabbix detect issues proactively, receive instant notifications, and automate incident response to minimize downtime
    • Zabbix easily scale to monitor thousands of devices while seamlessly integrating with AWS services for enhanced cloud observability

What do you like best about the product?
It's simple on the surface, but that's where it ends
What do you dislike about the product?
    1. It's needlessly complicated to get it to do what you want.
    2. You need to be an expert in Zabbix in order to use it effectively
    3. It only works well when you bolt on 3rd party mods
    4. The support is far to expensive for the poor service it provides.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's not, it just monitors our servers and even that is iffy at best.
