Overview
If your organization is still running Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) 2.4 today, you are not simply a few minor versions behind. AAP 2.4 represents the previous generation of the platform architecture, predating Red Hat's transition to the containerized deployment model introduced in AAP 2.5 and expanded in AAP 2.6 and AAP 2.7. As a result, many organizations are not fully benefiting from the latest platform capabilities, operational improvements, and strategic direction of the Ansible Automation Platform.
Unlike many previous AAP version upgrades, there is no supported direct upgrade path from AAP 2.4 to AAP 2.7. Organizations must first upgrade to the latest AAP 2.4 release, then transition to AAP 2.6 RPM-based, then migrate to a new AAP 2.6 containerized installation using Red Hat-supported tooling and procedures, and then finally perform an in-place upgrade to AAP 2.7. This journey requires careful planning, infrastructure preparation, migration of automation assets, validation, testing, and operational readiness.
Recent AAP release timeline:
- AAP 2.4 (June 2023): RPM-based install
- AAP 2.5 (Late 2024): Introduction of the new Containerized Install and unified dashboard UI
- AAP 2.6 (Late 2025): Migration tooling and documented transition path for 2.4-install customers
- AAP 2.7 (June 2026): Current Generally Available release
Standard Fixed-Price Engagement: $20,000 USD
Red Hat Premier Partner Level Up has successfully completed numerous AAP modernization projects for customers, and along the way we have developed a repeatable migration methodology that helps you reduce risk and accelerate your timeline. Our engagement framework includes discovery of the current AAP environment, future-state architecture design, implementation of the complete upgrade and migration path, validation of automation assets, knowledge transfer, and ongoing support. What might spiral into a multiweek planning, testing, and debugging effort can frequently be completed by Level Up in as little as five scheduled business days, helping organizations modernize faster while maintaining alignment with Red Hat-supported practices and architectures.
Highlights
- Modernize from Legacy Red Hat Ansible Architecture: AAP 2.4 uses Red Hat's legacy RPM-based deployment model. AAP 2.7 is built upon the modern containerized architecture introduced in AAP 2.5 and matured in AAP 2.6. Level Up helps customers successfully navigate this architectural transition using proven migration processes and Red Hat-supported tooling.
- Navigate the Required Migration Path: There is no Red Hat-documented or supported direct upgrade from AAP 2.4 to AAP 2.7. Organizations must follow a multi-stage process that includes upgrading to AAP 2.6, migrating to a new containerized deployment, and then upgrading to AAP 2.7. Level Up guides customers through each phase while reducing project risk and complexity.
- Accelerated Delivery by Experienced Architects: Level Up has refined the AAP 2.4 to 2.7 migration process through repeated customer engagements. Our structured approach (Discovery, Design, Implementation, and Support) can often reduce migration timelines from several weeks to as little as five scheduled business days while maintaining operational continuity and platform integrity.
