    Overview

    Open image

This is a repackaged open source software product wherein additional charges apply for cloudimg support services.

Overview Matomo is the leading open source, privacy-first web analytics platform, a fully featured self-hosted alternative to Google Analytics that keeps 100% ownership of your data on your own server. This image delivers Matomo fully installed and configured as a production LAMP application, so a complete analytics platform is running within minutes of launch.

Application Stack Matomo running on PHP 8.3 with php-fpm, served by nginx on port 80. A MariaDB database stores all of your analytics data on a dedicated data disk so it is independently resizable and survives instance replacement. Systemd manages the database, the PHP FastCGI workers and the web server, starting them on boot and restarting them on failure.

Privacy-First Web Analytics Track visits, page views, events, goals, ecommerce and campaigns across every site you add. Build segments, funnels and custom reports, watch real time visitor activity, and explore the visitor log and behaviour flow. Matomo gives you GDPR-friendly analytics with data anonymisation, an opt-out mechanism, configurable data retention and no data sampling, because the data never leaves your server.

Secure First Boot On the first boot of your instance a one shot service generates a fresh database password and a fresh administrator password, both unique to that instance, creates the Matomo superuser and pins the dashboard to your instance address. The administrator password is written to a file only the root user can read, and no shared or default credentials ship in the image.

Ready To Use The Matomo dashboard is served on port 80 through nginx. Sign in with the generated administrator credentials to add websites, install the tracking code, configure goals and segments, manage users and explore your reports. The full Reporting API is available for programmatic access with per-user tokens.

cloudimg Support 24/7 technical support by email and chat. Help with deployment, site and tracking-code setup, the Reporting API, user management, GDPR and privacy configuration, database tuning, TLS and scaling.

Use Cases Self-hosted, GDPR-compliant web analytics. A Google Analytics replacement that keeps data ownership. Multi-site traffic and campaign measurement. Ecommerce and goal conversion tracking. Real time visitor monitoring. Privacy-respecting product and marketing analytics.

    Amazon Machine Image (AMI)

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

    Version release notes

Initial release of the Matomo open source, privacy-first web analytics platform.

    Additional details

    Usage instructions

Connect via SSH on port 22 as the default login user for your operating system variant (the user guide lists it per variant). The Matomo dashboard is served on port 80: browse to http://<instance-public-ip>/ and sign in with user admin and the generated password. Retrieve the credentials with: sudo cat /root/matomo-credentials.txt. Matomo binds nothing publicly except nginx on port 80; PHP runs under php-fpm and MariaDB listens on loopback only. The Matomo Reporting API is served on the same port 80; create a per-user API token (token_auth) from the user settings in the dashboard. The analytics database lives on a dedicated data disk mounted at /var/lib/mysql. Matomo enforces a trusted-hosts check; first boot pins the dashboard to your instance address, and the user guide explains how to add a custom domain.
