Overview Apache ActiveMQ Artemis is the next generation high performance, non-blocking architecture message broker from the Apache ActiveMQ project. It supports the JMS 2.0 and Jakarta Messaging APIs and speaks AMQP 1.0, MQTT, STOMP and OpenWire on the wire, so a wide range of clients and IoT devices can publish and consume messages against one broker. This image delivers Apache ActiveMQ Artemis fully installed and configured as a system service with a ready to use broker instance, so a production grade message broker is running within minutes of launch.
Application Stack Apache ActiveMQ Artemis installed under /opt/artemis and run by a dedicated unprivileged service account. A headless OpenJDK Java runtime. A broker instance created on a dedicated data disk holding the message journal, paging and large message store. A systemd service that starts the broker on boot and restarts it on failure. An nginx reverse proxy that publishes the Hawtio web management console on port 80.
Multi Protocol Messaging The broker exposes a multiplexed acceptor on port 61616 that handles the CORE, OpenWire, AMQP, STOMP and MQTT protocols, plus dedicated listeners for AMQP on 5672, MQTT on 1883 and STOMP on 61613. Point your JMS, AMQP, MQTT or STOMP clients at the broker and start exchanging messages immediately.
Secure First Boot On the first boot of your instance a one shot service generates a fresh broker administrator password, unique to that instance, rewrites the broker user and role configuration and writes the password to a root only file. The broker requires login by default. No shared or default credentials ship in the image.
Ready To Use The web management console is served on port 80 through nginx. Sign in with the generated administrator credentials to inspect addresses, queues and topics, browse and send messages, and monitor broker health. Create your queues and topics through the console, the management API or your messaging clients.
cloudimg Support 24/7 technical support by email and chat. Help with broker deployment, protocol and acceptor configuration, clustering and high availability, TLS, persistence tuning and JVM administration.
Use Cases Decoupling microservices with durable queues and publish subscribe topics. Bridging AMQP, MQTT and JMS clients on a single broker. IoT telemetry ingestion over MQTT. Asynchronous task and event processing. Lift and shift of on premises JMS workloads to the cloud.

Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
Version release notes

Additional details
Usage instructions
Connect via SSH on port 22 as the default login user for your operating system variant (the user guide lists it per variant). The Hawtio web management console is served on port 80: browse to http://<instance-public-ip>/ and sign in with the generated administrator credentials. Retrieve them with: sudo cat /root/apache-activemq-credentials.txt. Broker acceptors listen on 61616 (multi-protocol CORE/OpenWire/AMQP/STOMP/MQTT), 5672 (AMQP), 1883 (MQTT) and 61613 (STOMP); point your messaging clients at <instance-public-ip> on the relevant port. The broker instance, journal and paging store live on a dedicated data disk mounted at /var/lib/artemis-instance.
