Managed real-time data has powered low-latency personalization and reduced operational effort
What is our primary use case?
Aerospike Cloud Managed Service provides fully managed or self-hosted options, and we work on fully managed only. It runs in our cloud environment and manages itself, which reduces our workload significantly. There are two options: self-hosted and SaaS. We rarely go with the self-hosted option; however, we do suggest self-hosted solutions to large media-centric firms like Yatra. Its main purpose is to function as a database with NoSQL capabilities, featuring very low latency, fast read and write speeds, and the ability for horizontal scaling, even at petabyte scale data. Automatic scaling and monitoring are excellent features, and it has stronger consistency in replication, making it fully managed so we don't have to worry much about maintenance.
A specific example of how my team uses Aerospike Cloud Managed Service is for real-time personalization, such as in a recommendation engine for Netflix-like systems. It stores all customer profiles and supports real-time bidding, processing millions of ad requests per second. Companies like Amazon Prime and Hotstar use it to process the same ad for millions of their users simultaneously. This is a great feature, and it also supports fraud detection in banking and payment systems for suspicious transaction processing instantly. Additionally, it replaces Redis in large-scale environments for handling user data sessions. There are many more use cases as well.
What is most valuable?
The best features Aerospike Cloud Managed Service offers, in my opinion, are its high-speed lookups at scale. It scales quickly and generally processes NoSQL data in real-time with low latency. We usually host it in AWS , GCP , and Azure cloud platforms, where it processes NoSQL data at high speed for various users.
The positive impact of Aerospike Cloud Managed Service on my organization is first evident in pricing. Earlier, we used Azure Cosmos DB, which had global distribution but was very costly. That's why we switched to Aerospike Cloud Managed Service.
After switching to Aerospike Cloud Managed Service, I have seen positive changes, including cost savings and the service being completely managed by the Aerospike team itself. We don't have to worry much about optimizations and configurations.
What needs improvement?
Aerospike Cloud Managed Service can be improved in several ways. The learning curve is a challenge for beginners, especially compared to MongoDB or Redis , which are more user-friendly. Additionally, there is a smaller ecosystem with fewer tools and communities compared to MongoDB and Redis. While the managed service cost can be expensive for startups, large media enterprises may not feel the financial burden. Performance tuning is needed, as some areas still require faster processing for customers. We still receive complaints about the time it takes to load ads, and the query flexibility is limited, lacking a rich query language such as SQL or document databases.
The needed improvements for Aerospike Cloud Managed Service include transparent pricing tiers similar to MongoDB Atlas , better developer enterprise UI for simplicity, a larger ecosystem and integration, simplified onboarding tutorials, and native analytics with stronger SQL-like query layers.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Aerospike Cloud Managed Service for over four years in our project. We recommend to clients to use Aerospike Cloud Managed Service.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
In my experience, Aerospike Cloud Managed Service is stable. We don't find any significant bugs; there is some latency in the UI, but it is not a significant concern.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The scalability of Aerospike Cloud Managed Service is quite good compared to others; I find it impressive.
How are customer service and support?
The customer support for Aerospike Cloud Managed Service is good, providing prompt help and responses.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We previously used Redis, but we switched to Aerospike Cloud Managed Service due to pricing constraints.
How was the initial setup?
We did not purchase Aerospike Cloud Managed Service through the AWS Marketplace ; we purchased it directly from their store.
What was our ROI?
I have seen a return on investment comparing Aerospike Cloud Managed Service with Redis. While it is more expensive than Redis, it is less costly compared to MongoDB, and it remains more stable than MongoDB.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
My experience with Aerospike Cloud Managed Service's pricing, setup cost, and licensing indicates that it is quite expensive, but its functionality compensates for the cost. It is a higher burden for startups.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Before choosing Aerospike Cloud Managed Service, we evaluated other options such as MongoDB and Cassandra . MongoDB has flexible schema capabilities but is slower for higher throughputs with a significant amount of latency. Cassandra offers massive stability, but it is not optimized for real-time applications. Therefore, we found Aerospike Cloud Managed Service to be the only viable option.
What other advice do I have?
Aerospike Cloud Managed Service manages NoSQL as a real-time database, requiring high machine resources, and it is best suited for high-scale systems with low latency. I would rate Aerospike Cloud Managed Service a nine out of ten because if it had a larger ecosystem and integration with a more developer-friendly UI, I would have given it a perfect ten. The developers still need some time to understand it due to the learning curve.
Regarding Aerospike Cloud Managed Service's AI capabilities, I think its governance and security are solid. The vector search support, which enables AI models, is good and is useful in recommendation systems as well as for systematic search and retrieval of argumentative generation. It can integrate with Kafka, Spark pipelines, and ML pipelines, such as using vector similarity for e-commerce recommendations.
The accuracy and reliability of the output from Aerospike Cloud Managed Service's AI capabilities are quite good. While it can still be trained for better accuracy, initially, I cannot say it is very accurate, but over time it demonstrates good accuracy.
What I have mentioned covers everything about improvements needed for Aerospike Cloud Managed Service, such as enhancing the community side, building a larger ecosystem, and making the UI simpler for developers to understand. My overall review rating for Aerospike Cloud Managed Service is nine out of ten.

How has it helped my organization?
Aerospike Cloud Managed Service has been really helpful for us because the managed service makes it ideal for teams that need real-time speed, but don't want to deal with cluster operations.
As a manufacturing company, we do have some technical expertise, but most of our people are newer to this field.
The managed service has positively impacted our organization by enabling us to ensure that the performance, scalability, and reliability of the cluster and infrastructure remains maintenance burden-free.
I've seen specific outcomes from Aerospike Cloud Managed Service that show how it has helped our team, including a reduction in time consumed.
It has definitely helped us reduce our time by almost twenty percent per person because otherwise, the developers, especially the newer developers, would need to learn everything and perform their actions independently.
I've seen relevant ROI with Aerospike Cloud Managed Service in terms of effort saved, since people now need to spend lesser time focusing on how they need to manage the cluster and the resources.
Since our company is evolving towards IT and not all people are very technical, Aerospike Cloud Managed Service has made everyone's life easier and reduced the efforts involved in the learning curve.
It has helped us save around twenty percent of our time.
What is most valuable?
The best features Aerospike Cloud Managed Service offers are good zero downtime during scaling.
We can add capacity without affecting production.
The fully managed operations are a big plus since it allows us automated patching, monitoring, and backup, making life much easier.
It's probably the fully managed automated patching and monitoring that I find myself relying on the most day-to-day because it has been really helpful for us in our daily tasks, not only for us but even for the implementation we do for our entire team.
Even under massive loads and workloads, the latency stays consistently low at sub-millisecond levels.
What needs improvement?
Overall, I think Aerospike Cloud Managed Service is quite good, but I believe the UI console is functional and could be made better.
It's a bit technical to use, especially for some of the people in our organization who are not very technical, and since our company is evolving and moving towards the IT side, that can be improved to be easier to use.
The managed service model takes away all the operational burden, and from a UI perspective, some functionalities could be made more intuitive.

Ultra‑low latency access has transformed how we deliver time‑critical ads and serves audience data in real time
What is our primary use case?
My main use case for Aerospike Cloud Managed Service is to keep the key values of my ad serving application where data latency is so critical.A quick, specific example of how Aerospike Cloud Managed Service helps with that day-to-day is that we are working on an ad serving platform where we had a lot of data that needed to be stored, and we have to retrieve it on demand as and when we are publishing or an ad is being clicked. We tried multiple things, but nothing could give us the speed of performance as Aerospike. Our application is very time-critical, and we need to make sure that the application should be able to get the information about the customer from our database as soon as possible. We tried multiple things, but Aerospike was the best to give us the least latency and the best performance.
What is most valuable?
The best features Aerospike Cloud Managed Service offers are mostly high availability and cloud flexibility because regardless of AWS and GCP, we can simply move to, we can configure Aerospike Cloud Managed Service on multi-cloud as well. Performance is the main thing, a very predictive performance, ultra-low latency at a huge scale.Aerospike Cloud Managed Service has impacted my organization positively because earlier, we were struggling to convert these ads within a limited time frame. But with Aerospike Cloud Managed Service, we are able to deliver ads more precisely and faster to the audience. So, it definitely increased the throughput, and our ad performance also increased after moving to Aerospike Cloud Managed Service.
What needs improvement?
One improvement I think Aerospike Cloud Managed Service could make is adding more customizations because we have less control on the underlying infrastructure. Having some more customization options would be helpful.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Aerospike Cloud Managed Service for almost three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Aerospike Cloud Managed Service is definitely stable in my experience.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Aerospike Cloud Managed Service's scalability is highly scalable; being a managed service, we don't have to bother about scalability at all. It was heavily scalable depending upon our requirement.
How are customer service and support?
I would add that their support was also awesome, as we had a dedicated account manager who helped us to fix issues as soon as possible. The customer support for Aerospike Cloud Managed Service is good because they were available 24/7 across the globe.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Positive
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I previously used a different solution; I think we were mostly in Redis at that time. We had to switch to Aerospike Cloud Managed Service because the latency was not as up to par.
What was our ROI?
I have definitely seen a return on investment because of time saved since earlier, when we were running these ads on other platforms, we definitely had a huge latency which impacted our ad performance. Almost 4x improvement happened when we moved to Aerospike Cloud Managed Service.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing is that pricing was decently priced, but there were a few things, some costs which are not immediately apparent, is what I remember. Otherwise, it was very clear pricing, and it was worth it.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Before choosing Aerospike Cloud Managed Service, I evaluated other options, such as Redis and Cassandra . Cassandra was out of the box earlier itself because of the maintenance of Cassandra. Redis is something we were sticking with because it was simple to manage and was almost par with what our requirement was, but the latency wasn't up to mark as Aerospike Cloud Managed Service. That's why we moved to Aerospike Cloud Managed Service.
What other advice do I have?
My advice to others looking into using Aerospike Cloud Managed Service is that not all tools will be applicable for everyone. So do your homework properly and see how Aerospike Cloud Managed Service, how your scenario is being handled in multiple platforms. For us, we tried with multiple tools, and Aerospike Cloud Managed Service did give us the least latency. So if you're looking for something which is very critical on latency, Aerospike Cloud Managed Service is the best option to go. I would rate this review a 10.

Fast read and write performance boosts efficiency in data management
What is our primary use case?
At the time I was working in the travel industry, we needed efficient search capabilities. We needed to find inventory from our database, which was kept in two distributed systems: SQL and Aerospike.
To achieve fast reads, we stored all the inventory data in Aerospike, which significantly improved our performance in terms of read-write operations. In SQL, saving and fetching takes time, and our clients often commented on performance. However, introducing Aerospike enhanced our read and write speeds immensely.
Aerospike is a NoSQL database, allowing us to store extensive data and perform read and write operations rapidly, resolving our inventory-related performance issues.
What is most valuable?
Regarding features, a couple of things stand out for me. First is definitely the read and write capabilities, which were amazing. On the storage side, another notable feature is the distributed management.
Also, saving data into Aerospike in a NoSQL format is beneficial. It's not exactly buffer data; it's like free text, allowing us to create key-value pairs and fetch data using keys. This was another good feature.
What needs improvement?
Enhancing performance would be beneficial. While it is already fast, the industry is continuously moving towards even faster solutions, and performance issues can become apparent. They can certainly focus on performance improvements, as the current performance is like a 100 to 1, which could be optimized further.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using the solution for more than four years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I have not encountered any major issues; I think I can say ninety-nine percent of the time, they provide good performance. I didn't find anything major, like system downtime or similar issues.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Scalability is also good. Generally, we deployed Aerospike on three different servers. This setup ensures proper scalability. If one server is handling requests, other servers are free to process their own tasks, ensuring seamless operation. From a scalability perspective, I can say they manage it well.
How are customer service and support?
I contacted them twice during my entire experience, and they responded well. I clearly remember an issue with searching that I faced. They not only replied via email but also assisted greatly over a call. The support system is very good.
What other advice do I have?
I will rate it eight out of ten. Definitely eight.
It depends on the users and their needs. In our system, we needed inventory-related functionalities, and Aerospike fulfilled our requirements. If your needs are similar, Aerospike will meet them. It is important to understand your needs first, then decide whether Aerospike is suitable.
