Charging Interworking Function (CHF-IWF) by Slicce (BYOL)

     Info

The Charging Interworking Function (CHF-IWF) by Slicce enables real-time billing mediation across multi-generation telecom networks. It bridges INAP, CAMEL, DIAMETER, and HTTP2 protocols, allowing operators to connect any legacy or 5G network element to a single Online Charging System (OCS), without replacing existing infrastructure.

    Overview

The Slicce CHF-IWF (Charging Interworking Function) is a carrier-grade, cloud-native mediation engine for telecom operators managing multi-technology and multi-generational network infrastructures. It enables real-time control and billing of voice calls, SMS, and data sessions across fixed and mobile networks, supporting INAP, CAMEL (Phase 1-4), DIAMETER Credit Control, and HTTP2 (N28/N40/Nchf) protocols simultaneously.

    Key capabilities:

    • Protocol Conversion: Supports any-to-any simultaneous conversion between CAP, INAP, DIAMETER CC, and HTTP2, as well as proxy mode for same-protocol mediation (e.g., CAPv1 to CAPv2).
    • Cross-Technology Billing: Enables CAP and INAP signals to be sent to the same DIAMETER element, allowing operators with mixed-technology networks (2G/3G/4G/5G) to consolidate onto a single OCS, eliminating costly infrastructure upgrades.
    • Scriptable Call Flows: Call flow logic is implemented via a simple scripting language, dramatically reducing time-to-market for new services.
    • Real-Time Balance Control: Extends standard DIAMETER Credit Control AVP sets to enable complete call control from any connected OCS to southbound protocols.
    • Standards Compliant: SCTP (RFC2960/3309), MTP (ITU-T Q.700), TCAP (ITU-T Q.711-Q.714), CAP (CAMEL Phase 1-4), DIAMETER (RFC 4006, RFC 3588/6733, SGPP TS 32.299), and HTTP2 (RFC9113).

The CHF-IWF is deployable in standalone mode as a multi-service SCF, and integrates seamlessly with any OCS via DIAMETER or CAMEL interfaces. Ideal for Mobile Network Operators, Fixed-Mobile Convergent operators, MVNOs, and operators managing legacy-to-5G network transitions in Africa, Middle East, and beyond.

    Highlights

    • Any-to-any protocol conversion: bridge INAP, CAMEL, DIAMETER, and HTTP2 to a single OCS in real time.
    • Cross-technology billing: unify 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G charging onto one Online Charging System - no infrastructure replacement needed.
    • Scriptable call flows: deploy new services fast using a simple scripting language, with no constraints on your development environment.

    Container image

Containers are lightweight, portable execution environments that wrap server application software in a filesystem that includes everything it needs to run. Container applications run on supported container runtimes and orchestration services, such as Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS) or Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS). Both eliminate the need for you to install and operate your own container orchestration software by managing and scheduling containers on a scalable cluster of virtual machines.
