Overview
This is a repackaged software product wherein additional charges apply for security hardening. This AWS-based EC2 comes pre-configured with Ubuntu 26.04 LTS (Resolute Raccoon), hardened to (DISA STIG) government-grade security specifications -- designed for U.S. Government agencies, Department of Defense contractors, and organizations operating under federal security mandates. Government-grade hardening includes the DoD-required login banner, chrony time synchronization, SSSD configuration, comprehensive auditd rules, PAM hardening with smart card support readiness, SSH cipher and MAC algorithm restrictions, session timeout controls, and strict password policy enforcement aligned with federal security requirements. This image builds on advanced hardening controls and applies additional government-grade security measures to achieve the highest level of security compliance for regulated and classified workloads. Key features: This hardened image maps to DISA STIG requirements, NIST SP 800-53, the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF), FISMA, FedRAMP, and other regulatory frameworks applicable to U.S. Government and defense environments. Why use Madarson IT Ubuntu 26.04 LTS images? Madarson IT certified images are always up to date, secure, follow industry standards, and are built to work right out of the box. Every image is validated before publishing and regularly updated to incorporate the latest security patches. Disclaimer: Canonical Ltd. owns the trademarks for Ubuntu and its associated branding. Madarson IT does not provide commercial licenses on any third-party product. This hardened image should be considered a starting point. Organizations may need to customize configurations based on their specific security requirements and risk profile.
Highlights
- Secure by Default: This image ships with a DoD-standard login banner, immutable audit configuration, strict access controls, and hardened SSH -- ready for federal and defense workloads without additional configuration.
- Standardized Security Configuration: DISA STIGs offer consistent, detailed guidance for securing operating systems, cloud platforms, and applications, helping reduce attack surfaces and enhance overall system security.
- Compliance and Auditing: STIGs are critical for compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies. Organizations must regularly assess systems against STIG benchmarks to maintain their Authority to Operate (ATO), ensuring they meet federal security requirements including FISMA and RMF.
