Overview
Production NextCloud from first boot: automatic HTTPS, PostgreSQL plus Redis caching (not SQLite), a hardened Ubuntu 24.04 base, and auto-generated admin credentials. Own your files, calendars, contacts, and office docs - a self-hosted alternative to Dropbox and Google Workspace with no per-seat fees and no storage caps beyond the EBS you attach.
The appliance boots ready to use: point a domain at the instance (or browse the public IP over self-signed TLS), log in as admin with the auto-generated password, and start syncing. Attach additional EBS volumes for file storage as you grow. Hardened base includes a firewall, key-only SSH, and automatic security updates.

Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

Usage instructions
Launch with ports 80, 443, and 22 open. Wait 2-3 minutes for first boot to finish. Browse to https://<public-ip>/ and accept the self-signed certificate, then log in as 'admin'. Retrieve the auto-generated password with: sudo cat /opt/appliance/credentials.txt. For trusted public TLS (Let's Encrypt), point a domain at the instance and launch with EC2 user-data line: APPLIANCE_DOMAIN=yourdomain.com. PostgreSQL and Redis run as local containers; attach additional EBS volumes for file storage as needed.
