The Home Maintenance Score helps address a growing need in home resilience: homeowners and ecosystem partners often lack a clear, property-level way to translate risk signals into practical improvement priorities and potential financial benefits. As severe weather becomes more frequent and costly there’s a requirement for a more consistent way to understand current property conditions, identify targeted upgrades, and track progress over time. The Home Maintenance Score can provide a property-specific score designed to support those decisions.
The platform combines publicly available property data, and user-input upgrade information to assess structural and parcel-level resilience. It can also support a separate energy efficiency score, using inputs such as envelope age, heating and cooling systems, siding, stories, and condition to help identify opportunities to improve affordability and home energy performance. In the Dallas hail-focused MVP, inputs comprise of details such as roof material, roof type, building age, siding, and structural condition, along with average parcel considerations (such as tree canopy, drainage slope, and neighborhood density) for the area. A library of scored home improvement actions enables users to model the effect of potential upgrades before investing and set a schedule for installing the improvements to maintain accountability as needed.
Built on AWS, the platform is designed for scalable deployment and future geographic expansion. The Dallas MVP uses publicly available home data as its baseline and is structured so additional regions and perils can be incorporated over time through new data sources and calibrated methodologies. The platform can support integration into insurer, lender, contractor, and homeowner workflows through APIs and configurable user experiences.
The Home Maintenance Score can support multiple stakeholders across the home ecosystem. Homeowners can use it to understand the resiliency characteristics of their home and plan targeted structural improvements, insurers can use it to inform resilience-linked engagement, lenders can explore financing pathways for qualified upgrades (such as roofs meeting FORTIFIED standards), contractors can connect recommended actions to delivery, and municipalities or program sponsors can use it to target resilience efforts more effectively. The value proposition extends beyond resilience alone by helping homeowners and ecosystem partners connect resilient upgrades with energy savings.
