Overview
WEI Enterprise Architecture Assessment & Consulting
WEI's Enterprise Architecture Assessment & Consulting helps organizations gain a clear, structured understanding of their current technology environment - including hybrid and on-premises workloads - define where they need to go, and build a practical roadmap to get there on AWS.
Why WEI
WEI's cloud architects bring deep expertise in hybrid and multi-environment complexity. WEI delivers architecture assessments grounded in real-world hybrid constraints - not theoretical frameworks. WEI evaluates customer environments against industry-recognized frameworks including the AWS Well-Architected Framework, NIST, and CIS benchmarks to ensure findings are actionable and aligned to security and operational best practices.
The Challenge
Many enterprises operate in hybrid environments where workloads span on-premises data centers, colocation facilities, private cloud, and AWS. This complexity creates architectural gaps, accumulated technical debt, siloed systems, and limited visibility into how applications, data, infrastructure, and operations interconnect - all of which slow transformation and increase risk.
Engagement Phases
The engagement is structured around five core phases:
1. Discovery & Strategy Alignment WEI engages business and technical stakeholders to understand organizational goals, priorities, constraints, existing hybrid topology, and cloud strategy. This establishes the strategic foundation that guides every architecture decision.
2. Current-State Assessment WEI evaluates the existing technology landscape across applications, infrastructure (cloud and on-premises), data flows, integrations, hybrid connectivity, security controls, and operational processes. Key findings include architectural gaps, redundancies, hybrid integration risks, technical debt, and areas of cloud readiness.
3. Future-State Architecture Design WEI defines a target-state architecture aligned to business capabilities, AWS cloud-native services, and industry best practices. This includes AWS reference architecture design, hybrid connectivity and integration patterns (AWS Direct Connect, AWS Site-to-Site VPN, AWS Outposts where applicable), platform and service selection, and governance frameworks spanning cloud and on-premises environments.
4. Transformation Roadmap WEI develops a prioritized roadmap with phased initiatives, sequenced milestones, effort estimates, and migration waves that account for workload dependencies, hybrid constraints, and business continuity requirements.
5. Governance & Operating Model WEI provides recommendations for architecture governance, decision-making frameworks, change management, and operating model changes needed to manage hybrid environments during transition and sustain the target architecture over time.
Example Use Case
A healthcare organization with 200+ applications distributed across on-premises data centers and AWS needed to consolidate infrastructure while maintaining regulatory data-residency requirements. WEI assessed the full application portfolio, mapped workload dependencies, identified hybrid connectivity gaps, and delivered a phased migration roadmap that sequenced workloads by compliance sensitivity and business criticality - providing a clear path to cloud-native maturity without disrupting patient-facing systems.
Scope and Prerequisites
Each engagement is scoped collaboratively based on organizational size, architecture complexity, hybrid environment footprint, and transformation goals. Typical prerequisites include:
- Availability of business and technology stakeholders for discovery sessions and architecture reviews
- Access to existing architecture documentation, application inventories, network diagrams, and infrastructure topology - including on-premises and colocation environments
- Leadership alignment on engagement objectives, hybrid constraints, and desired outcomes
Engagements can focus on a single domain such as cloud migration readiness, application portfolio rationalization, or hybrid network architecture, or span the full enterprise architecture across all technology dimensions.
Highlights
- WEI assesses current-state architecture across applications, infrastructure, data, security, and operations spanning cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments. Unlike theoretical frameworks, WEI's approach is grounded in real-world hybrid constraints, evaluating environments against AWS Well-Architected Framework, NIST, and CIS benchmarks to produce findings that are immediately actionable.
- Future-state blueprint and AWS reference architecture design that accounts for hybrid integration patterns using AWS Direct Connect, Site-to-Site VPN, and Outposts where applicable. WEI maps connectivity requirements and governance frameworks across cloud and on-premises environments to define a realistic path to cloud-native maturity tailored to each organization's constraints.
- Prioritized transformation roadmap with sequenced milestones, effort estimates, and migration waves that account for workload dependencies, hybrid constraints, and business continuity requirements. A healthcare organization with 200+ applications used WEI's roadmap to sequence workloads by compliance sensitivity and business criticality without disrupting patient-facing systems.

Engagement Support
WEI provides support for the Enterprise Architecture Assessment & Consulting engagement via email, scheduled working sessions, and review meetings during standard business hours (Eastern Time, Monday through Friday).
Assigned Team: Each customer is assigned a dedicated WEI engagement lead and has access to certified cloud architects and enterprise technology consultants for the duration of the engagement.
Typical Engagement Duration: Engagements are scoped collaboratively during an initial discovery conversation. Duration varies based on organizational size, architecture complexity, and hybrid environment footprint. Contact WEI to schedule a scoping call and receive a tailored timeline estimate.
Support Scope: Support covers questions about discovery sessions, hybrid environment analysis, architecture design, roadmap development, and delivered artifacts. Issues or questions can be raised through the designated WEI engagement lead provided in the Statement of Work or via the WEI contact details at wei.com.
Response Commitment: WEI responds to engagement-related inquiries within one business day during active engagements. For urgent matters, customers may contact their assigned engagement lead directly.
Follow-On Services: Implementation support, cloud migration services, hybrid network design, or managed services can be scoped as a separate engagement and transacted through AWS Marketplace private offers.
