Overview Baikal is an open source self-hosted CalDAV and CardDAV server. It lets you sync calendars and contacts across all of your devices, phones, tablets and desktops, using the open CalDAV and CardDAV standards, while keeping that data private on infrastructure you control. This image delivers Baikal fully installed and configured, so a complete calendar and contact sync service is running within minutes of launch. The current release available is Baikal 0.11.
Application Stack Baikal is built on the proven Sabre/dav library. PHP 8.3 with OPcache and every extension Baikal requires. nginx web server. SQLite storage, so the appliance is fully self-contained with no separate database server to manage. The configuration, SQLite database and DAV data are kept on a dedicated, independently resizable data volume.
Secure First Boot On the first boot of your instance a one shot service generates a fresh Baikal administrator password, unique to that instance, regenerates the application encryption key, and writes the credentials to a root only file. No shared or default credentials ship in the image.
Ready To Use The Baikal code tree, document root, web server and database are all configured and the browser setup wizard is already completed. Browse to the instance address and sign in to the admin console to create users, calendars and address books. Point any CalDAV or CardDAV client at the instance to sync calendars and contacts.
cloudimg Support 24/7 technical support by email and chat. Help with Baikal deployment, upgrades, client configuration, performance tuning, and storage administration.
Use Cases A private self-hosted calendar and contact sync service. A self-hosted alternative to commercial calendar and contact platforms. Shared team calendars and address books. CalDAV and CardDAV synchronisation across desktop and mobile clients.
