FileCloud

FileCloud  serves as our primary solution for secure enterprise file sharing and collaboration across distributed teams. We have offices in three different cities, and FileCloud  acts as a central hub where everyone accesses, syncs, and shares documents without needing a VPN. We use it heavily for sharing sensitive files with external clients and vendors through controlled permission-based access. It essentially replaced both our internal file server and our client-facing FTP portal in one solution.

One concrete example involves our work with a legal client that requires strict data handling and GDPR compliance as a non-negotiable requirement. We set up FileCloud's self-hosted deployment on our own infrastructure, configured AES-256 bit encryption at rest, and enabled detailed audit logs so the client could track every single file access event. That one implementation alone helped us win a contract renewal because the client was genuinely impressed by the transparency and control. It would take months to build something similar from scratch.

The best features FileCloud offers are the smart DLP  (Data Leak Prevention), the self-hosting flexibility, and the granular permission system. Smart DLP  lets us define policies that actually prevent sensitive data from leaving the organization. This is not merely a checkbox feature but genuinely enforced at the content level. The self-hosting option was a deal-breaker requirement for us, and FileCloud handled it cleanly. The permission system allows me to get incredibly specific about who sees what, even down to expiry dates on shared links.

FileCloud has impacted my organization positively through a shift from reactive to proactive data security. Before FileCloud, we relied on people following email policies, which honestly does not scale. Now the platform enforces those policies automatically. Collaboration speed has also improved significantly. Teams that used to wait on IT to set up shared files can now spin up team folders themselves with the right permissions. That independence has made a real difference in major turnaround times.

One feature that does not receive enough attention is the ransomware protection. FileCloud's heuristic scan engine monitors file patterns and actually blocks suspicious behavior in real-time. We had a test incident in our staging environment, and it caught it immediately. The multi-tenancy support is also worth mentioning, especially since we manage files across multiple business units that need to be completely isolated from each other. The zero-trust file sharing feature, where you can share encrypted files that are inaccessible even during a breach, represents a genuinely forward-thinking capability.

Regarding improvements needed in FileCloud, the user interface feels somewhat dated compared to some of the newer SaaS collaboration tools available. First-time users sometimes need guidance before they feel comfortable navigating it, which adds a small onboarding overhead. The mobile app is functional, but it does not have full feature parity with the desktop version. Some of the admin-level controls simply are not available on mobile, which can be frustrating when traveling. A UI refresh would go a long way in improving first impressions.

The documentation has improved over the years, but gaps remain in more advanced configuration areas, particularly around custom workflow setups and API integration. When I was setting up the Zapier  integration, I had to rely on community forums more than official documentation, which added unnecessary time. Better step-by-step guides with real-time configuration examples would be valuable, especially for teams without a dedicated DevOps resource.

I have been working with FileCloud for close to two and a half years now.

Stability has been excellent throughout our usage. In over two years of production use, we have had maybe two or three minor service interruptions, and those were typically related to our own infrastructure maintenance rather than FileCloud itself. The platform handles our daily load of around 300 concurrent users and thousands of file operations without any noticeable performance degradation. We have also completed a couple of major version upgrades, and those proceeded cleanly with no data loss or configuration drift.

Scalability has been demonstrated effectively for us. When we expanded from 200 to 300 users last year, we scaled our underlying server resources and FileCloud adapted without any platform-level changes required. The multi-site replication capability gives us a clear path if we need to expand to additional office locations. For organizations at even larger scales, the multi-tenancy support means you are not locked into a single flat architecture. You can segment by department or subsidiary, which is significant for enterprise governance.

Customer support has been genuinely good, better than I expected for a mid-market product. Response time on critical tickets has been fast, usually within a few hours. We have had a dedicated contact for our account who actually knows the product well and does not just read from a script. There was one complex issue with the NTFS permission sync early on, and their technical team stayed involved until it was fully resolved over a couple of days. That kind of persistence in support is something you do not always receive.

We were using a combination of a Windows File Server with VPN access plus a consumer-grade cloud storage tool for external sharing. The VPN was a constant pain point—slow, unreliable for remote workers, and a support burden for IT. The consumer cloud tool had zero enterprise-grade controls, and our compliance team was increasingly uncomfortable with it. When we started taking GDPR and client data security more seriously, it became clear we needed a purpose-built enterprise solution, and that is when we started evaluating FileCloud.

The experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing was straightforward and competitive, especially compared to SharePoint  Online licensing or some of the other enterprise EFS solutions we reviewed. We were on an annual per-user license for FileCloud Server, and the value is clear when you factor in all the features included. The initial setup took our team about a week end-to-end, including the AD integration and permission migration from our old system. Their professional services team helped with the migration plan, and that honestly prevented what could have been a messy transition.

Active Directory integration was huge for us. Our IT team did not have to create a new set of user accounts. It simply synced with what we already had. We went with an on-premises deployment using FileCloud Server. That was a firm requirement from our legal and compliance teams. We need 100% data residency within our own infrastructure. FileCloud supports that without compromise, and we run it behind our corporate firewall. We do use AWS  S3  as a secondary storage endpoint for archival purposes. In some ways, it is a light hybrid setup, but the primary deployment is fully self-hosted.

I have seen a return on investment, and the ROI became visible within the first six months. Between consolidating tools, reducing IT support overhead, and accelerating file-based workflows, we estimated roughly a 22% reduction in total cost of ownership compared to what we were spending across our previous patchwork of solutions. Productivity-wise, the time our team saved by not fighting with VPNs or waiting on IT for access provisioning in real-time has probably resulted in several hours saved per employee per month across a 300-person organization. That compounds quickly. We also consolidated three separate tools—our FTP server, a third-party cloud storage subscription, and an old backup solution—into FileCloud alone, which cut our related software spend by approximately 28%. These numbers showed up clearly in our annual IT budget review.

Before choosing FileCloud, we evaluated SharePoint  Online and Citrix ShareFile . SharePoint was powerful but felt over-engineered for our file-sharing needs, and the licensing cost was steep. Citrix ShareFile  was solid, but the self-hosting option felt more limited compared to FileCloud. Ignite was a strong contender, but FileCloud's pricing was more transparent and the feature set, especially the DLP and self-hosting flexibility, tipped the balance. The fact that FileCloud had a 30-day trial made the final decision far easier to justify internally.

If you are considering FileCloud, my advice is to spend real time planning your permission structure before you go live. It is worth the upfront investment because the system is flexible enough that you have many choices, and retrofitting permissions across thousands of files is painful. Also, take advantage of the trial seriously. Do not just test file upload and download. Actually test the AD integration and DLP policies and the audit reporting. Those are the features that will matter most in a real enterprise environment, and they are where FileCloud actually distinguishes itself. FileCloud has been a reliable, security-forward platform that genuinely fits enterprise needs without trying to be everything to everyone. In our organization, we take data governance, compliance, and secure collaboration seriously, and especially if you need self-hosting flexibility, it is difficult to find a better fit in this price range. I would choose it again without hesitation. I would rate this product an 8 out of 10.

My main use case for FileCloud  is providing customers remote access to share their data and our data for development, testing, and staging purposes. I provide clientless access for internal content collaboration.

An example of how I use FileCloud  for development or testing is that we have on-premises infrastructure in which the cloud sharing is installed. In that particular environment, there are three different types of users located on our infrastructure for the tester, developer, and production environment. I have provided FileCloud to secure access through remote access VPN users for internal collaboration.

For storage access consolidation, I am using FileCloud for NAS  sharing, AWS  sharing, and on-premises and off-premises sharing.

Since using FileCloud, I have reduced the cost in our organization by at least 70% in our storage area, which shows a 70% cost optimization.

The features that stand out to me include workflow and sync improvements, as real-time sync enables faster updates, disaster recovery, unnecessary encryption, file folder structure, and 2FA and access control, which provide more reliability, automation, and monitoring backup.

The best features FileCloud offers in my experience are the internal discovery search, which is cost-effective and preserves corporate data for legal compliances and business purposes.

For our organization, the internal discovery search works in a remote work environment. The key uses for us include remote work establishment and secure external collaboration. File sharing provides ransomware protection, disaster recovery, and data governance regulation. This is beneficial for our team and our environment.

I think FileCloud could be improved because we are using different types of databases and need database separation for different types of database providers such as MongoDB, MariaDB , and MySQL . I need to reduce the load in that particular area.

I have been using FileCloud for approximately three years.

FileCloud is definitely stable.

FileCloud's scalability is excellent, as it allows the organization to manage growing values without capacity constraints. It provides horizontal and vertical scaling as highly scalable hybrid cloud storage, along with load balancing.

Customer support from FileCloud is great.

Previously, I used the S3  bucket for storage, but that was not compatible with different services, so I migrated to FileCloud.

I can share that specific outcomes since using FileCloud show that it impacts our storage purpose and provides cost optimization of up to 50% less than physical servers.

For infrastructure optimization, I am using FileCloud for SSD  storage, database separation, load balancing, and patch management.

Since adopting FileCloud for the last three years, I believe there is no need for any changes. However, I advise that we need day-to-day patch updates and to provide the end-user agreement as well.

I advise others looking into using FileCloud that because it allows for on-demand growth, cost management, improved performance, and high flexibility, they should use FileCloud rather than other products. I would rate this product a 7 out of 10.

I have been using FileCloud  while building a product for a QSR domain, and I am exploring the system where I can secure my content in terms of images, reports, and everything.

My main use case for FileCloud  is building a QSR platform which is used by multiple stores, and I want to store all the menus in centralized storage from where every store's owners, kiosk, and mobile app will access it. It will be the content of the menus and images of the products, everything.

In my day-to-day operations, I use the role-based access feature by allowing my operations team and store managers to update the store-based menu I put in, where I have a path for my centralized menu. The managers can change the product image, remove the product, or update the inventory, but colleagues or staff may only have view access, and for updating anything, they need the help of managers, maintaining an easier hierarchy where the manager should be aligned with everything.

The best features FileCloud offers include centralized data access in a secure way, and we have role-based access where we can easily assign a role so that a person can access the data, update it, and add new data. FileCloud has positively impacted my organization by allowing centralized access to my menus across all stores, meaning we can access the same centralized store menu from kiosks, mobile applications, and even a PWA, making it easier to access.

Everything is fine with FileCloud and it can be improved.

FileCloud is totally stable.

FileCloud has everything I want and I would say it is totally scalable.

I have not connected with the customer care team, but as far as my experience goes, it should be great.

To implement something centralized, a data store system, you should use FileCloud. I would rate FileCloud seven out of ten because I am exploring FileCloud and I have not used all the available features; without using all the features, I cannot give a product ten out of ten. Whatever I used, I am pretty much happier, so that is why I gave a seven, as per my usage.

My main use case for FileCloud  is storing my data as a storage solution. I used FileCloud  for storing my personal files, data, photos, and other things similar to how I would use Google Drive .

I organize my files in FileCloud using the creation of folders, structures, and permissions. In my opinion, the best features FileCloud offers are more storage, a good UI interface, a good way to organize files, folder structure, and permissions.

When I mention the UI interface and organizing files, I find that it is not that great. It is the same as other providers such as Google Drive  and OneDrive, but it is a good UI. FileCloud has not positively impacted my organization's efficiency. It does provide storage where we can store our data.

Having that storage in FileCloud has helped my workflow by allowing me to store data on a file share other than storing it in our local storage. We can also share it with other colleagues. In that way, it functions as a shared storage.

FileCloud can be improved by making some integrations with other things and integration with local storage.

I have been using FileCloud for the past 11 or 12 months.

FileCloud is stable for my needs, but it can be improved.

FileCloud's scalability has met my needs as my data grows, and I have not faced any trouble.

I have not had much experience with FileCloud's customer support because we have not needed to reach out to them yet.

We were using only our local storage before switching to FileCloud.

FileCloud is deployed in our organization on our public cloud. We use AWS  as our cloud provider for FileCloud. We have not purchased FileCloud through the AWS Marketplace . We have set it up on our AWS  instance.

I am not the right person to share details about the return on investment so far because we are still exploring the pricing models and other things.

We are currently exploring the pricing models of FileCloud, including setup costs and licensing. In those pricing models, we are looking at both costs and features.

My advice for others looking into using FileCloud is that you can use it for remote storage. It is good and better than other providers. I gave FileCloud a review rating of 8.
